Osceola teachers place 1st and 2nd in half marathon sponsored by Friends of Stower Seven Lakes States Trail
Teachers reigned on Saturday running the first half marathon sponsored by Friends of Stower Seven Lakes State Trail. Beginning at Lotus Lake Park and finishing at Soo Line Park in Amery 30 runners enjoyed a great day to compete. Race Rolling, a Tech Ed at the Middle School finished first at 1.22.28 with Mark Swiontek, Music teacher at the Intermediate School coming in second at 1.27.01. Tony Meyers from Amery came in 3rd at 1.35.40. Meyers is employed at Bremer Bank and serves on the Stower Friends’ board with a passion for supporting non-motorized trail events open to people of all ages and abilities. “It took a village of dedicated volunteers to help make this such a successful race event,” said Meyers. Rolling is also known for participation in ultramarathon events. Swiontek recently completed the Boston Marathon. Adam Lushanko of Scandia placed 4th and Mary Boe of Amery placed 5th, the first woman to finish. With so much enthusiasm, Meyers is confident the event will be back again next year.
